Basalt Fiber Fire Sleeve

Basalt Fiber Fire Sleeve is a premium thermal protection sleeve constructed from braided basalt fiber and coated with high-temperature silicone rubber. Compared with standard fiberglass fire sleeves, basalt fiber sleeves offer improved mechanical strength, enhanced abrasion resistance, and greater thermal stability under prolonged exposure to harsh industrial environments.

Designed for hydraulic hoses, fuel lines, cables, wiring harnesses, and industrial piping, the sleeve helps protect critical systems from flame, radiant heat, molten splash, and mechanical wear.

Key Features:
  • Continuous Exposure up to 260°C (500°F)
  • Intermittent Exposure up to 1650°C (3000°F)
  • Basalt Fiber Core for Enhanced Heat Resistance
  • Superior Abrasion & Mechanical Strength
  • Resistant to Molten Splash and Radiant Heat

Product Overview

LXHTR Basalt Fiber Fire Sleeves are engineered for applications where conventional fiberglass fire sleeves may not provide sufficient durability or service life.

The natural basalt fiber core offers superior resistance to thermal shock, vibration, and abrasion, making it particularly suitable for steel mills, foundries, mining equipment, heavy machinery, power generation facilities, and other demanding industrial environments.

The silicone-coated outer layer provides additional protection against oil, moisture, chemicals, and molten metal splash while maintaining flexibility for easy installation.

Why Basalt Fiber?

Many fire sleeves use fiberglass as the reinforcement layer. Basalt fiber offers a higher substrate temperature resistance of up to 760°C (1400°F), providing improved thermal stability and mechanical integrity when exposed to extreme heat conditions.

Although the silicone coating determines the sleeve’s continuous operating temperature, the basalt fiber core helps maintain structural strength during short-term high-temperature exposure and thermal shock events.

Core Design Features

  • Basalt Fiber Reinforcement — Natural basalt fibers provide higher mechanical strength and thermal stability than conventional fiberglass materials.
  • Silicone Rubber Coating — The thick silicone coating improves flame resistance while protecting against moisture, oils, chemicals, and molten splash.
  • Flexible Braided Construction — Allows easy installation over hoses, cables, wire bundles, and piping without affecting flexibility.
  • Environmental Sustainability — Manufactured from natural volcanic basalt rock, basalt fiber offers a more sustainable alternative to many synthetic reinforcement materials. The production process requires fewer additives and generates lower emissions, supporting environmentally responsible industrial operations without compromising performance.

Key Advantages

  • Enhanced Abrasion Resistance — Basalt fiber construction withstands wear and mechanical damage better than standard fiberglass sleeves.
  • Improved Thermal Stability — Maintains structural integrity during repeated exposure to high-temperature environments.
  • Flame and Molten Splash Protection — Provides an effective barrier against direct flame, radiant heat, welding sparks, and molten metal splash.
  • Flexible and Easy to Install — Can be cut to length and installed on existing hoses, cables, and piping systems.
  • Reduced Maintenance Costs — Helps extend service life of hoses and cables while minimizing unexpected downtime.
